About Us

We are more than 30 nonprofit and community organizations from across Texas working to put people first in transportation planning, and empower each other to successfully advocate for the diverse transportation needs of Texans.

We advocate for a sustainable and equitable transportation system that aligns with the plans developed by the counties, cities, and communities that TxDOT connects.

Vision

We envision a safe, healthy, and just Texas transportation system – local, regional, and statewide – that provides dignified, multimodal access for all people regardless of age, ability, or place.

Mission

We champion people’s access first by informing, reforming, and transforming TxDOT and other integrative transportation projects, processes, and policies through dynamic advocacy.

Why Now

In the next 10 years, TxDOT will invest more than $100B in Texas. Almost 98% of that budget is constitutionally dedicated to highways. This despite TxDOT’s 2018 finding that on-road emissions in Texas account for nearly half a percent of total worldwide carbon dioxide emissions. And despite the fact that since the 1960’s, research has demonstrated that widening highways does not reduce traffic congestion. Building multiple transportation options addresses both of these problems.

TxDOT’s investment will literally shape our state’s future, but is being made with little attention from, or accountability to, Texans and our elected leaders. From funding restrictions to outdated traffic modeling, TxDOT’s numbers don’t add up to a transportation system that serves Texans. We have the knowledge, creativity, and technology to develop a system that works for the health of our people and our economy. Let’s build it.
